Values & principles
During various times in my life, I have received the therapies I offer to my clients. This has enabled me to fully appreciate their therapeutic benefits in times of great challenge, when we are called upon to make key changes, or when we need the support and the ‘tools’ to just navigate our way through the difficult twists and turns of life.
I greatly valued feeling heard, understood, and accepted in a warm, empathic, and non-judgemental way. That is why I will bring these same core values and principles to our sessions together, along with humour, compassion, and being present with you as you share the deeper and lighter aspects of your experiences, working things through together. The way I will work with you is considered an integrative approach. This means I can draw upon and offer you a variety of theories and techniques to meet your unique needs and that feel right for you.
Before completing my Psychotherapy and Counselling Degree, I trained as a Life Coach, a Mental Health First Aid Instructor, a Clinical Hypnotherapist, and a Sound Therapist.
Appreciating life’s challenges
I worked for many years in various therapeutic roles, working indoors in person and online, and outdoors with groups and individuals delivering Mental Health First Aid training in schools and third-sector organisations. I have been a carer and I am a mother of now grown-up children, so I can fully appreciate the many challenges that life presents.
A particular passion of mine is supporting those of you who are experiencing hormonal changes and the menopausal transition. I can offer you supportive therapeutic care and tools during a time that can be challenging for some, including information, emotional support, practical strategies, and thinking processes. I have conducted key research and written a paper on how menopausal students experience the menopausal transition whilst studying in higher education, and I have recently presented this to a Counselling Research Conference in summer 2023.
I very much look forward to meeting with you.
